As part of our Interfaith Program, the Year 9 Interfaith Ambassadors joined students from St MonicaÈËÑýÌìÌÃapp College in Epping for an enriching excursion designed to deepen appreciation of diverse faith traditions and promote respectful dialogue.
The day began with a guided tour of St PatrickÈËÑýÌìÌÃapp Cathedral, where students explored its architecture, artwork and sacred spaces, gaining valuable insights into Christian traditions and worship.
Students then visited the Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA), where galleries showcased the richness of Islamic history, art and civilisation. Exhibits closely linked to our Islamic Studies curriculum, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real world cultural examples.
A highlight was an engaging presentation by Jacquie Bourtzis, who spoke on Islam and contemporary society. Students asked thoughtful questions, shared reflections and participated in open dialogue, promoting intellectual curiosity and mutual respect.
This partnership between ÈËÑýÌìÌÃapp and St MonicaÈËÑýÌìÌÃapp College demonstrates the positive impact of interfaith initiatives in fostering empathy, understanding and cooperation across communities.
The excursion was a memorable experience that broadened perspectives and strengthened students’ commitment to cultural awareness and interfaith harmony.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all staff and students who contributed to this valuable learning experience.
